Failing Hard at Basic Functions

Three days ago, I decided to get my feet wet with functionality by creating a Chrome extension that auto-scrolls on command.

As of today, the extension still doesn’t do anything, and not for lack of trying. I’ve probably poured at least six hours into testing different methods of communicating between extension and browser, with only small amounts of seemingly irrelevant success.

The only thing I can think to do is go back to the basics and give the Google documentation a closer read. So far I’ve only been using it as necessary to get things done, and evidently that isn’t working out too well for me.

I got to hang out with my little nephew this weekend, which was a nice mandatory break from having my head halfway through a computer screen. The kid loves having me read to him or play guitar or ukulele… I believe he’s going to grow up to be a ninja genius.

Tomorrow I think I’ll post about something other than coding… I might need to take a bit of a breather in order to figure out the issues I’m having with my extensions. Look forward to a marketing or mental health based post most likely, or possibly something sexy if the mood moves me.

For now I’ve got to sign this off and move on to my next task for the night. I’m feeling pretty exhausted, but I managed to turn a negative day into a semi-positive one and I’m so grateful for that I think I can soldier on for a few more hours.
