JavaScript Stole My Sleep

I’m still an absolute coding noob, but I’m learning that every program I write can be a black hole for my time and energy.

If I’m not careful when coding, I end up spending hours trying to figure things out when I should just take a break and come back to it later, or ask for help.

Last night, I wasn’t careful. I wound up staying up past 4AM working on a new Chrome extension and getting absolutely nowhere. I really should have gone to bed on a number of occasions… but I kept answering the challenge, and failing.

Somehow… it was still fun. I probably wouldn’t have lasted so long if I wasn’t enjoying myself. Is it weird to enjoy something while making absolutely no progress? Usually I get frustrated by that kind of setback.

I guess there were some small victories that kept me going. But overall, it was pretty much a failure. I failed to get the extension interacting with the browser in any meaningful way, and I failed to introduce any of the modest functionality I had planned for it.
