You're right, and I think you should go deeper on this issue. I have always disliked TikTok both in concept and in practice, but earlier this year I decided to sign up so I could post my YouTube shorts and expand my audience.
The first few times I opened the app I exclusively sought out and watched videos about digital marketing and copywriting (my niche). Only about 10% of the videos contained helpful information, while the rest focused on reiterating concepts most people are familiar with while painting a picture of how much money you can earn by using product xyz.
After a few hours of following hashtags and watching videos exclusively in my niche, the algorithm clearly knew what I wanted. Despite that, anytime I started swiping through videos I would get an equal helping of scantily clad women dancing to go with my marketing content.
Ultimately I decided that exposing my brain to TikTok and chasing its trends was not worth whatever benefit posting my videos there might bring, so I deleted the app.
